Session 15 - The eSignature is Mightier Than the Pen: Establishing an Enterprise-Wide eSignature Service for Government Employees
The State of Michigan adopted an electronic signature standard and procedure to comply with federal and Michigan laws that permit the use of electronic signatures in business transactions. The State of Michigan Records Management Services (RMS) took the lead to provide a centralized service so each agency would not have to acquire and obtain approve for their own solution. In March 2020, RMS launched a cloud-based eSignature Service for Michigan government agencies.
Join our presenters on an adventure to discuss RMS’s involvement with this service including research and compliance with state and federal laws, “eSignatures” versus “digital signatures,” framework surrounding an appropriate solution (including end-to-end encryption and FedRAMP ratings), implementation and deployment of the solution, training state employees, and all of the issues and solutions that presented themselves along the way.
eSignatures are becoming a hot topic of discussion, especially in the most recent years of hybrid work. This session will demonstrate the process from beginning to end of implementing an enterprise-wide solution for government employees.
