Overview: This webinar on Security Compliance provides attendees with an overview of security research performed for the State of Michigan Records Management Services for the following regulations; National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), Social Security Number Privacy Act, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI), IRS Publication 1075, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and State of Michigan Policies. This research primarily focused on requirements and security controls that apply to record storage services for physical and electronic records, and the services provided by vendors and contractors for RMS. The overview for security compliance includes; strategies for researching multiple security regulations, identifying security requirements that are specific to your organization, analyzing applicable security requirements for compliance, and performing a gap analysis for non-compliant and partially compliant requirements.
Some of the learning objectives includes learning how to tie all the research together to create a final product that makes sense, how Michigan addressed gaps to remediate or mitigate issues, and some major lessons learned and recommendations.
