SESSION 4:
"#Squadghouls: How Coordinated Outreach Efforts Have Increased Records Management Awareness and Compliance in State and Local Government"
OVERVIEW:
Although Kentucky public agencies have a legal obligation to create a records management program and archive records, the scary truth is that many of them don't realize that or even know that the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) exists to assist them! Due to this grave situation, three of KDLA’s branches (State Records, Local Records, and Electronic Records) have teamed up to prove that records management is more treat than trick.
This presentation will review KDLA's recent outreach and communication efforts and what has worked, what hasn't, and what might. The presenters will discuss the wickedly basic actions and tools used to reach our audience, the killer successes in increased awareness of services and resources for public agencies, and how internal coordination across multiple records management branches has led to #squadghouls by creating consistent messaging and language.
