Our Staff

NAGARA has contracted with State Services Organization (SSO) to provide association management services to the organization. Johnny Hadlock has been assigned by SSO to serve as NAGARA's Executive Director and is the association's day-to-day contact. In this role, Johnny provides NAGARA with full-range management support, strategic advice, communication, membership services, and meeting and event management and implements the vision of the NAGARA Board of Directors. Johnny works in collaboration with the NAGARA Board of Directors, as well as various employees and support staff of SSO, to ensure the association is successful in every venture undertaken.

Johnny Hadlock has over 14 years of work experience in the non-profit, for-profit and public sector. He earned his Bachelors of Art degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University (2010) and his Master of Public Administration degree from George Mason University (2014).

Johnny began his career working in client training, technical support, and customer service for a Fortune 500 company before transitioning to the U.S. House of Representatives working as a Legislative Aide and Manager of Media Relations for a Member of Congress. After working nearly three years on Capitol Hill, Johnny served as Mitt Romney’s North Carolina Deputy State Manager during the 2012 presidential election. There, Johnny worked on campaign data and analytics, managed various election projects and served as a state-wide surrogate for the campaign. Johnny’s political communication and management work provided him with invaluable contacts and experience working with difficult and demanding personalities in high-stake, high-pressure environments.

Before coming to work for SSO and NAGARA, Johnny worked for a large, Washington, D.C.-based trade association with over 11,000+ members where he focused on increasing the association's membership retention and acquisition rates, representing the association at numerous trade shows and conferences, proposing and implementing new association innovations, improving the organization’s overall customer service program, creating an innovative budget tracking system, and overseeing the billing and invoice processing of multi-million dollar budgets.

Johnny is currently working towards earning his CAE designation with the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
