ONLINE FORUM OVERVIEW: Archives may work with collections that are historical, but our processes are ever evolving. To celebrate October's American Archives Month, join NAGARA for a full-day Online Forum highlighting strategies and successes that local, state, and Federal archives have employed and achieved in advancing their functions and processes. Learn from the processes that Mississippi used to inventory and preserve historical records housed across 82 counties. Join the Texas State Library and Archives in deliberating the merits of posting collections online when there is a high level of sensitivity in the content, but no legal access restrictions. Hear from the Library and Archives Canada on how they used a risk-based approach legal review and reappraisal of large quantities of records. And find out how NARA’s Digital Preservation Department is working with agencies to promote the digital transfer and preservation of records. Finally, attendees of this event will dig into the Jefferson Lab archives as they gained intellectual control 35 years' worth of unprocessed scientific materials and worked with scientific researchers to preserve their records when they retire.
