Exclusive Access to Industry Experts

  • Join online communities. Depending on who you’d like to connect with - be it State, Local, or Federal Archivists and Records Managers, or our College/University community - these communities act as discussion boards for hot topics in the industry providing great opportunities to seek information, advice or learn of best practices from industry practitioners and experts. Simply login to your account and under "Interest Area," select the group you are interested in joining.
  • View the membership directory. Sort alphabetically, by member categories, or member groups to view contact information and websites of NAGARA members. You must be logged in to view this feature.

Continuing Educational Opportunities

  • NAGARA offers regular webinars on salient archive and record management topics that will greatly benefit your learning. IN partnership with the Institute of Certified Record Managers (ICRM), many of NAGARA's webinars are pre-approved for 1CRM credit.
  • NAGARA offers members the opportunity to earn their Local Government Archives and Records Manager (LGARA) Certificate. This certificate program was created to recognize local government officials’ achievements in obtaining a broad knowledge base to help them more effectively care for and manage their records.

Exclusive Access to the Members-only Area Online

  • Manage your individual membership online. Adjust your privacy settings for your public profile, add a bios, headshot, contact information, personal social media accounts, certifications, relationships to other members, community preferences, etc.

Access to Publications and Other Resources

  • Quarterly NAGARA newsletter. Stay abreast of what’s going on with the government archives and records administration community by receiving the quarterly NAGARA newsletter
  • Search NAGARA’s resource library. The new website means new resources. The resource library will always be growing with the latest and greatest information available to assist you in the profession.
  • Access to archives. You’ll be provided access to past newsletters and bulletins within our archives.

Member Awards, Appreciation and Recognition

  • Member Awards. Nominate an individual member or an organizational member for one of NAGARA’s Annual Awards! Recipients will be recognized at the Annual Business Meeting during the Annual Conference and will receive a plaque commemorating their achievement.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Exclusive opportunities within NAGARA for members. Examples of committees include but are not limited to the Communications Committee, Membership Committee, Professional Development Committee, Professional Content Committee, as well as Committees specific to the Annual Conference (Program Committee and Local Arrangements Committee). Additionally, if you're passionate about the government archives and records management community, members can vie for a spot on the Board of Directors.

 Voting Rights​

  • Your voice and vote counts! As a member, you are able to vote annually, prior to the Annual Business Meeting, on the Slate of Candidates who serve on the NAGARA Board of Directors. These individuals determine the direction of the organization, and your vote matters! The Slate must be approved by a majority of the membership in order to pass.
