Session 1 - Taking the Saint Louis Zoo's Record Management Training Online!
The Registrar Department at the Saint Louis Zoo deployed the employee training program for records management in 2013. The RIM Program for Animal and Veterinary Records was expanded over time to include policies and procedures for additional systems. In 2021, preparations for creating online training modules began and a new program was deployed in June of 2022. This presentation will cover the project from beginning to end including garnering institution support, the selection of a cost-effective Learning Management System and the development of courses and alignment to to the core tenants of the RIM Program for Animal and Veterinary Records.
Training is an essential component of any RIM Program. Launching a successful employee training program for records management requires strong senior management and user buy-in and is key to ensuring compliance. This case study will provide a high-level overview of the program a year out from it's initial deployment. There are numerous ways that this session can benefit the NAGARA membership: 1) providing benchmarking for evolving business practices 2) example of how to adapt virtual or in-person training to asynchronous learning 3) how to enlist support and justify online training 4) demonstrates how assessments improve training outcomes.
